Crafting Pure Maple Perfection

Our Journey Through Time
Welcome to Inthewoods Sugar Bush LLC, a family-owned and operated pure maple syrup producer nestled just a few miles from the breathtaking shores of Lake Michigan, in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. We manage 20 acres of land that has been in the Wagner family for years. From humble beginnings to a renowned name in maple syrup production, our story is one of passion, perseverance, and progress.
As a third-generation maple producer, owner Jesse Wagner has adopted modern techniques while preserving the rich legacy of making pure maple syrup. Gone are the days of boiling sap in an open pan in the woods. Today, the sap is collected through an advanced tubing system, filtered through reverse osmosis equipment, and boiled to perfection in a high efficiency evaporator. This combination of tradition and technology ensures the highest quality pure maple syrup with minimal environmental impact.
Jesse and his father John are true maple craftsmen. They built the Sugar Shack from the ground up, harvesting much of the supplies from the homestead. From the hand-made cabinets to the state-of-the-art maple processing equipment, the Sugar Shack is more than just a rustic cabin in the woods. It embodies the spirit of hard work and a love for the art of pure maple syrup production.
A visit to Inthewoods Sugar Bush will provide a unique experience to those interested in the history and tradition of pure maple syrup production, along with tapping into the innovative methods of the 21st century. Whether a pure maple syrup enthusiast or simply curious about the process, visitors will enjoy a memorable experience that celebrates both the past and the future of pure maple syrup.
